« on: Monday 29 September 14 11:36 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Could anyone look up the marriage of Frederick Holt & Clara Skinner for me? The marriage took place in Linton,Cambridgeshire in 1860 & i'm trying to confirm that the groom's father was Alfred Holt,a servant or porter.

Unless any local transcriptions exist - to lookup a marriage in parish records - you have to know which church it took place in

The Linton RD covered all the following areas

Carlin (Ireland & Liverpool) Doughty & Wright (Liverpool) Dick & Park (Scotland & Liverpool)

Is Clara the person whose birth was registered as Clarissa Skinner Jun qtr 1838 Linton, baptised as Clara Skinner on 7 Oct 1838 at Whittlesford to Benjamin & Elizabeth, resident in Sawston in 1841 & 1851, enumerated (in Peckham) as Clara Holt b abt 1838 "Sauston" in 1871 (RG10/1733/14/24)?

If so, Sawston and possibly Whittlesford would seem potentially fruitful lookup targets for the marriage - if it was a parish marriage.  If they married in a register office there will be no way of obtaining the relevant information without purchasing the certificate.

Hi,

Yes that's the correct person but I couldn't trace anything on-line. Looks as if I will need to order the M/C.

The marriage does not appear on the Cambridgeshire Marriage Index or the Cambridgeshire Family History Society super search.

Hi,

Following on from my previous messages I now have the M/C for Frederick Holt & Clara Skinner (05/05/1860) and have confirmed that this is the correct couple. I have now traced them up to & including the 1871 census when they were living in Camberwell,Peckham,London but have lost them after that census. I'm guessing that they may have emigrated but have been unable to track them down via the usual websites. Can anyone help?
