Army Marriage, Rangoon, Burma
« on: Sunday 10 August 14 06:12 BST (UK) »
Re; Henry James Warren and Gertrude Emily May
I have found a British India Office Registry Office Marriage transcript for this marriage in 1902 in the collection of The Families in British India Society, British India Office marriages 1901-1905.    As I did not want to join the society, does anyone have access to these records for more information on the marriage: archive ref. Z/N/11/10, Piece N/11, Vol 10, Folio 310.   I was hoping the full record would show parent details for Henry James.    I have also found a GRO index Army Marriages (1881-1955) ref, Page 145, Line 48 - would a certificate give full parents details as in a standard marriage certificate?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Colleen

The GRO Army Marriage certificate should show you the Father's names, just as an ordinairy England/Wales marriage certificate.

It won't show mother's names though! ::)

The respective fathers were Evan John Warren  and John George May.

Henry was a Lance Corporal in the Buffs at the time of his marriage. His army papers (viewable on FindMyPast) show that his next of kin was an aunt, Mrs Daniels, 8 Norman Terrace, Strood, Kent. He was born in Birmingham circa 1875.

Thank you so, so much Shaun and Brionne.     I was really hoping his father would be Evan John Warren. :) :)
I have a month-long subscription to Findmypast and did find the attestation papers (but front page only) for Henry James, no details of next of kin.    I obviously need to do another search.
Thank you again for such a prompt reply.
Many thanks
Colleen
