Where to start looking for RCAF records
« on: Wednesday 25 August 10 20:03 BST (UK) »
I'm looking to find any service records for my Father who served in the RCAF during WWII. I have a number but don't know what it means or where to start to search. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Harold Booth CANR 78725 and his date of enlistment was Nov 11 1940

Thanks

The Canadians are very good with their records  :) but if you have any queries about terminology, squadrons etc then please come back and ask.  There are people like Kyt who have access to all sorts of stuff...

I have been asked to search a friend's grandfather and I need some help in doing so as I haven't had any luck whatsoever. I am looking for Walter Beech, he served in WW11 and was a Chief Petty Officer.
He came home alive and lived in the Toronto area. Born in England.

Doesn't bode well, I'm afraid:

This is his CWGC record which appears to mention his ship:

Perhaps more on this warship here?:

Many thanks to daretodiscover and imber for finding all of that information for me. We will go to the cemetery and check for his headstone. Hopefully this much information will lead e to something else. Much appreciated.
