Hello Paul,
Hamilton Road and Main Street are still there although much changed since the 1800's.
Another line of mine also stayed in Davidson Square . It no longer exists but was on the South side of Hamilton Road.
If you can get a copy of a book called Rutherglen Lore , written by W.Ross Shearer it has a lot of information. Anther good publication is The History of Rutherglen and East Kilbride by the Rev. David Ure.

You could try the reference section of your local library.

Hi Baird.

I have contacted rutherglen and Mitchell library's and both of these places have a reference copy.

I was hoping they had copy's to take out, as I hardly ever get time to go to the library's what with work etc.....

Is very expensive to buy online!

Cheers

I have just come across your questions about Rutherglen, the Old Cemetery has been indexed but I can't remember the site that has it on line,I'll look for it and get back to you.I know you can ask for a pic of the headstone. The book I think you are looking for about the history of East Kilbride and Rutherglen,is one I took out at Rutherglen library. It's written a long time ago and is heavy going! You don't say where you live as Rutherglen library has a heritage centre with maps and literature about old Rutherglen. Hope this is of some help to you.
