Jennie King born in Maraeroa
« on: Wednesday 04 June 14 21:31 BST (UK) »
Trying to trace her. I have her marriage cert (attached)

Birthplace Maraeroa abt 1900 but there's no birth record in NZ BDM.

Parents Frank King and Mary Clarke but can't find a marriage record in NZ BDM or any other country. Nor any other children for Frank and Mary.

Glad of any suggestions.

Hello,

Nothing comes up for the birth of Jennie. I note she died in 1966 aged 65 years. Any clues on her death printout?

Marriage not found for her parents.

Husband Hubert Lyndon MARCROFT died in 1971 aged 71 years.

A son? Hubert Leslie Maurice MARCROFT died in 1998, born 3.3.1922. Buried Hamilton Park Cemetery.

There is also a Lyndon Harrison MARCROFT who died 8/06/1974 aged 48,this may also be a son

Hi rilenva

Do you think "Maraeroa"  is the place, in or near to Rotorua  (there was a "Maraeroa Block" connected with timber milling or somesuch).

Or, Maraeroa - a place in or near Hokianga ?

Well I really don't know. I just supposed it was near Hokianga, hadn't heard of the the other but seeing they're buried in Rotorua you could well be right there. I can't find her parents buried there though.

Hi rilenva

Mmm, "Maraeroa" a bit puzzling.  ;)      On the marriage cert. it gives "usual places of residence" (1921) as  >
Groom:     Rotorua
Bride:       Maraeroa

[As groom is resident at Rotorua around time of marriage, I would think bride was maybe residing nearby ??   Only a guess, but I'd say "Maraeroa" (near to Rotorua).  ]

I'm struggling to find Jennie's father on electoral rolls (Frank /or  Francis?  KING) ... will keep looking though.

Incidentally, I see that Jennie is sometimes listed as "Jean" MARCROFT in electoral rolls.
[That doesn't help any though in finding her birth registration.   :(]

Husband Hubert Lyndon MARCROFT died in 1971 aged 71 years.

Minniehaha.

This could be his school records:

Lyndon Marcroft , with a birth year of 26 September 1899, was admitted to the Aoroa School on the 7 Oct 1912.  Guardian was a Mr D Marcroft of Aoroa.  His last day of schooling was on 18 December 1912.

I am clutching at straws here, not saying it is your lassie, and the nearest to the name of Jennie and only putting up for elimination.

The school records show a Janie King born Jun 1900 attending the Aoroa School on the 24 April 1906, address being Aratapu Settlement with the Guardian being Mrs Clarke (Maori).  Last day being 6 July 1906 with the destination being Te Kopuru.

Could it be possible that father might be on the Maori Electorals ?
