Burials Woodham Mortimer.
« on: Sunday 26 June 05 04:31 BST (UK) »
Can anyone tell me if there is a lookup for burials at St. Margarets, Woodham Mortimer, Essex.
There is a Wiggins' Vault there with many of my ancestors included but I don't have a list.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Hi

Burials up to 1877 appear to be held at the Essex Records Office

Church of
St Margaret

The following registers are available for this church.

  Date Type Reference
Baptism 1662-1900 F D/P 274
Baptism 1800-1877 BT D/CR 423
Burial 1664-1812 F D/P 274
Burial 1800-1877 BT D/CR 423
Marriage 1664-1968 F D/P 274
Marriage 1800-1834 BT D/CR 423

searching SEAX also indicates a survey of the Monumental inscriptions was carried out by the Maldon Archealogical Group in 1994.

scope- Survey of the graveyard of ST. MARGARET's church, WOODHAM Mortimer, consiSTing of (i) transcript of 172 monumental inscriptions; (ii) name index; (iii) plan of churchyard
This survey is also held at the Records Office - document reference T/P 330/9

Is your Wiggins family anything to do with Tyndales Estate - there also seem to be some references to a John Wiggins in relation to this estate and a will as well

I don't have a visit to the records office planned, but there are certainly some people on here who will do look ups.  I do go through Woodham Mortimer on occasion so if you gave some detail of what you are looking for I could have a look

Hi ec,
Thankyou for that info, I appreciate it.  Yes my Wiggins' were connected with Tyndale's estate - it is mentioned in the will of John Wiggins (Ihave a copy of will).  I must have a look at the seax website, I hadn't heard of that one before, to see what other info they may have.  I may look into trying to find someone to lookup these parish registers.
Thanks again for you time and info,
Regards,
Jennean

Okay, so I signed up when I stumbled across your message surfing for Woodham, Mortimer, Essex, England Church. I stem from Alleyne H. Wiggins born on a farm named Tyndales, belonging to his father who lived immediately under Danbury Hill, Woodham, Mortimer, Essex, England about the year 1810. Alleyne's fathers father John Wiggins, lived on top of the hill in a tall house called Hill House. His grandfather John Wigins and his wife raised nineteen children.

Alleyne's mother's name was Mary Danvers, daughter of Mary Hampsen and James Danvers, a retired merchant, of Richmond, in Surrey, England. When Mary died James married again and this family went to Australia.

Are you part of this family?

I've never chaatted with anyone online before, but I'd love to talk with you!

Alecia

I am very sorry but we have now lost contact with this user June 2015

Hello Alecia,

This is very exciting.  Alleyne's father John was brother to my GGGGrandfather,
William Bridges Wiggins.
Are you in England, I am in Australia.  I have quite a bit of info of this family, by the sounds of it, so do you.  Do you have Alleyne's memoirs,  I was sent a copy of them about six months ago now.  I also have copies of wills of some
of the Wiggins' family members.  We must work out who knows what so we can fill in any gaps.
Look forward to your reply.
