Morgans of St Nicholas
« on: Tuesday 15 April 14 10:52 BST (UK) »
Hi all

Am having a bit of difficulty locating parents of my maternal Grandmother, I think as they were from St Nicholas and a lot is in Welsh this could be hindering me.  I do remember Tremhanir Farm being mentioned many years ago though and also Llanwnda Church.
Here's what I do know though!

Nan was Magwen Morgan, she was born January 20th 1920 and died Sept 17th 1987
She had brothers Morian and Illtyd and a sister Ceinwen who died quite young.  Nanny married my Grandfather William James Dundas Fairbairn (he's been much easier to trace)

I am getting confused to who her parents were and as my Mother and Grandmother have sadly passed away many years ago, when I had no interest in geneology I might add.

If anyone can help me with anything it would be marvelous.
Thank you in anticipation
Jayne

This is the marriage registration on FreeBMD
If all else fails buying this from the GRO would give you the father's name and occupation for both bride and groom

I can see the marriage I think you are referring to but do be careful about trying to go any further back without having proof that you are on the right family.
You can order certificates from the GRO https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp

Your grandmother's certificate would give you her mother's full maiden name. :)

You are looking at this possible marriage on FreeBMD. Just because their names are on the same page doesn't mean they married each other.

June 1/4 1874
Phoebe Harris
Griffith John
Narberth    vol 11a   page 1262

A birth certificate for one of their children would give the father and mother's names and father's occupation. If this is your couple then they should be together in the 1881 census and so far I can't see them searching using a choice/mix of Phoebe, Griffith and Richard's names. Also marrying in 1874 you would expect there to be child(ren) born before Richard in 1880.

Phoebe and Griffith, if they did marry need to be found on the 1881 census.
