Hi I have come across the name GENNAN in my family search (Ireland). Have never come across before or ever heard of...Has anyone else ?

Donīt know how prevalent it is in Ireland, but there are 8 of them in England in 1841 and 4 in 1901.

They crossed the Irish Sea to Scotland two. There are 11 Gennan births registered after 1855.

Thanks for the replies...They would have been born before 1855..her name was Sarah Gennan wed to Richard McGee .. daughter Mary b 1834.

Since you believe it to be such an uncommon name and there are few in England and Scotland you may well find that taking a closer look at them might reveal some more information about your own Gennans if they share ancestors.
