After far too long Manchester Central Library will be reopening.
Saturday 22nd March 2014
http://www.manchester.gov.uk/centrallibrary

The opening will coincide with the Manchester Histories Festival
22nd -30th March 2014

The library looks fantastic with interactive displays, two cafes, a performance space and a Family History Help Desk five days a week and much much more.

How do I access the Family History Help desk at the Library please?

(I seem to go round in circles when I try searching the Site for that!)

Romilly.

Hi Romilly

The Family History Help Desk is run by The Manchester & Lancashire Family History Society.
http://www.mlfhs.org.uk/

Help is available at the MLFHS Family History Help Desk located on the Ground Floor at Central Library  Monday - Friday 10:30am - 3:30pm.

Please note: They are not able to give 'over the phone' advice.  Main phone number for the Society is 0161-234-1060.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the further info california dreamin.

I'm just outside of London, - and so Manchester is a bit of a trek(!)  ;D

That's a shame that they don't do 'phone help', but I can quite understand why...
I've spent more years than I like to admit to looking for a Birth for my late Grandfather, William James Wilson, who was allegedly born in Manchester in 1860/'61. I can't find him:-(

I hadn't known about that Site before, but I have now registered.
