Have you already tried the online resources? e.g. Burke's General Armory (not the most reliable, but you would find in on the local reference library shelves and it would at least give you a possible starting point  ;) )   Where did this Francis Hall live?

Looks to be some spelling mistakes in the blazon?

I think:

jalbots heads = talbots heads. Talbot was a kind of hunting dog.
Mullet is a star - usually of 5 points. (supposed to be a spur?)
Patu is probably Pattee - when applied to a cross it means spreading ends of the arms.
Filche is probably fitche - the lower arm of the cross is pointed.

Haven't located a picture yet.  :(

The crest seems to have belonged to the Durham family of Halls but I can't find anything more.

The Harleian Society's Pedigrees Recorded in the Visitations of the County of Durham 1575 1615 & 1666 has the attached image for Hall of Newsam.  I will see if I can find details of the other quarter.

Gollop - Dorset

Looking at Papworth and Burke's General Armory, the 2nd & 3rd quarters seem to be:

Or on a bend Gules three crosses patty fitchy Argent – Oldfield of Bradfield, co. Chester.  Confirmed 7 Feb 1578
