St George, Carrington
« on: Sunday 01 June 14 18:46 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I have recently found ancestors who were buried at St George's Church, Carrington. I was there today but it was so over grown I couldn't read many of the inscription. I was wondering if anybody knows of a plot map so I at least know where to look next time I pay a visit.

Thanks for your time

Debbi

have you checked with Sale Library for details of the MI's ?

I think N Cheshire FHS would probably have recorded them.

I had thought the graves were on findagrave, but I think all those in the locality are but not this one

Hi,
I've had a look, bit disappointing really  :(. I can't see any for Hankinson and only a couple of Smiths.

B.45 - In affectionate memory of Hugh Smith who departed this life August 11th 1856 aged 85 years. 'His end was peace'. Also Mary, wife who departed this life August 24th 1876 aged 70 years. 'behold he taketh away, who can him who will say unto him what doest thou'.

I  must say there does seem to be quite a large age gap between Hugh and his wife - it may be a transcription error.

C.39 - In remembrance of Sarah eldest daughter of Joseph and Mary Holt of Carrington who died August 27th 1814 aged 10 years.  Also Sarah their second daughter who died November 21st 1815 aged 7 months.  Also John SMITH of Dunham Massey son-in-law of the above Joseph and Mary who dies September 9th 1883 aged 72 years. Also Hannah SMITH his wife who died April 12th 1887 aged 76 years.

Let me know if you need any more look ups

Jo

Hi,

Oh, what a shame. Thank you again for taking the time to look for me.

I do know a Francis Hankinson was buried there on July 11th 1841 aged 12 in Grave 170. Maybe his parents couldn't afford a gravestone???

The Smiths, I will have to do more research on.

Both family are from the nearby Partington. I may have to look for burial records instead
