Finlayson: Malcolm 1791-1848 Dunfermilne

Hello I'am trying to solve a problem with two marriages and locate Malcolm's parents etc
I have researched marriages (Scotlandspeople) for Malcolm Finlayson in Dunfermilne there appears to be two marriage dates for two of the same! woman 5 Feb 1808 OPR Dunfermilne of Catherin Mclean and 12 Feb 1808 Carnock for Katharine Mclay both list her father as Alexander McLean and Alexander Mc Lay. (Ancestry.com)

Ive been unable to research further back so have no known parents of Malcolm except a death for him in 1848 in Dunfermilne of Jaundice aged 58 hence the year of birth no other details

Malcolm appears in the 1841 census in Dunfermilne as a Linen Weaver on his own, and another entry a Malcolm is born in 1801 with wife Catherine of Ross and Cromarty

Perhaps a MI entry for Malcolm could shed light on his family unsure where to turn next

Yup same woman one of the registrars made an error but the mystery is which one.  My bet is that the Dunfermline entry is in correct, the original is OPR is very poorly written as if the author was in a hurry. 

In contrast, the Carnock entry is clear and concise whom the registrar has noted as being from this Parish.  Send me a PM with your email address I'll send you both original records.

Hi Don going with your advice of Mclean ie Dunfermilne marriage 5 Feb ive been researching Catherine's parents whom are Alexander and Margaret nee Templeman ive sited a marriage of Alexander Mc Lay to Margaret Templeman 9 Jun 1790 at Torryburn, Fife, I guess my Cathernine should be Mclay not Mclean!. wow they are trying to confuse me ha ha
