I think it might be better to put your requests on the boards, Matthew. There are local sources outwith the areas that I'm familiar with that others may be able to help with.

If I can help, I will,  but it should be an open question to everyone.

Ciogach was part of the Lochbroom Parish but was split off ?1855, I think - but can be corrected  ;)

This is a map of the area today. It is in Wester Ross. if you look up Ullapool and go north and west, you're there.

I will check up thses things later but I'm busy right now.

Gadget WELL DONE on the Lexy death in Glasgow...I still get caught out by the multitude of variants - forgot my Lexy with all the Alexis!

Still no joy with the 1841. I had seen the Alexy entry but no joy with a match for parents. I've also looked at Alex/lexy McLean (just in case!) and nothing either.
I've crossed checked the index entries with those on SP and not missing any entries.  ???

:o I think I may have found Alexa's mother's death, to say I'm surprised is putting it mildly!

1882   MCLEAN   ISABELLA    MCLEOD    age 82   EDDERTON/ROSS AND CROMARTY   063/00 0009

Isabella shows as widow to John McLeod, crofter. Parents Donald McLean, crofter and Ann McLeod. Nephew Alexr. Mclean reported death.

I have seen at least 3 other John & Isabella couples in the censuses, so this entry would need further verification. We are in the land of McLeods!

There is a Lexy age 7 in Applecross, is this the one you saw. Parents' names didn't fit.

I'm going to have a go  later on today at trying to verify the Isabella we have a death for in 1882, tracing her back from her Edderton death. Maybe we can get some clues from the household she lived in the various censuses.
