1841 census does not state he was b northampton

1841 just says Y=yes or N=no for whether they were born in the county they were living in - if he was from another country (not county) it may state that

Suz
Thornhill, Cresswell, Sisson, Harriman, Cripps, Eyre, Walter, Marson, Battison, Holmes, Bailey, Hardman, Fairhurst Noon-mainly in Derbys/Notts-but also Northampton, Oxford, Leics, Lancs-England

From the info we have, it is impossible to even hazard a guess as to where Samuel was born, or even exactly when, as 1841 census ages are rounded.

I expect you already this info, but I will post to give an idea of what is known:

1841
HO107 755 9
Dray And Horses Public House Tottenhill Norfolk
James Featherby 45 Publican N
Elizabeth 45 Y
Samuel 75 N
James 9 Y

(Are you assuming Samuel is James father, or have you any further info?)

1851
HO107 1830 77 6
Watlington Norfolk
James Featherby (indexed Featherly) 57 Plumber and Glazier bn Northampton
Elizabeth wife 58 bn Oxfordshire Caldecot (so much for the Y in 1841!)
James 19 son bn Norfolk Tottenhill
Ann Morley widow 84 lodger bn Norfolk Gurton?
David James Unm 14 servant boy bn Norwich

IGI
submitted entry
5 Nov 1827
marriage Oxborough Norfolk
James Featherby to Elizabeth Morley.

Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hi
Yes they were all Featherby's in 1841 - I just didnt type it in every time! But what I meant was are you just assuming Samuel Featherby is James Featherby's father, he could be Uncle or cousin or something!

Hi,

I too am looking for Samuel and James Featherby.

I have noted that James' wife (Elizabeth Ann Morley) was from Quinton (seen on one of the census returns - can't remember which one) - there is a Quinton in Northamptonshire. Also, somewhere I remember seeing that James was said to have come from Thornton - there is a village in Buckinghamshire named Thornton. Thorton and Quinton are only 6 miles apart!

Maybe this is the way to go on researching these two!
