William Thomson marriage to Margaret Mellon 1919 Musselburgh
« on: Sunday 19 October 14 14:25 BST (UK) »
Hi there

I am tracing my dad's family and am finding his paternal side really difficult. My grandmother Margaret Mellon b: 18/10/1895 in Blantyre married my grandad William Thomson in Musselburgh on 7/2/1919. This info I got from my dad's birth cert.  My dad passed in 2010 but had little info on his paternal side. His living sister has Alzheimer's so am unable to ask her.

Any kind offer of a lookup for the said marriage would be greatly appreciated as I am assuming info on my grandad would be on the marriage cert.

Thank you...Regards Patricia

Hi Patricia  :)

Have you tried http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ ?

The 1919 marriage cert. will be available to view online and should name both sets of parents.

£7 for 30 credits , 6 credits per cert.

Hi Patricia,

I am interested in your Mellon line as my G Grandfather was Michael Mellon b 1848 Glasgow to James Mellon & Hannah Tolland.

He had siblings John who emigrated & James who I have no information for?

I am wondering who Margaret's parent's were?

Hi Patricia,
Not sure if you found what you were looking for. Margaret Mellon's sister Mary was my Great Grandmother.
I hope you had some luck finding what you needed,
Louise

Hi Louise & thanks for the reminder  ;)

I'm still interested in this Mellon family who may be distantly related to me?...

Patrick Mellon d 1942, 78 yrs (c 1864/65) Dock Labourer at 34 Dunsmuir St, Tradeston, Glasgow
Informant was Mary Mellon (Widow) M.S. Gallagher (2nd wife), Annie Fallon being 1st wife
Parents: - John Mellon & Sarah McLarnan (many variants) both deceased.

I haven't yet looked further i.e. census records for PoB etc. (on the back burner as 'possibly related') but I have known ties to both surnames in what's now Northern Ireland.

Any advance on parents John & Sarah, where born &/or died most welcome  ;)
