Hi and welcome to Rootschat

You haven't really given us much to go on and haven't said exactly what type of info you are looking for and what you already have (so we don't waste time duplicating)

Have you looked for them on the Irish 1901/1911 census to establish their birthyears and birthplaces?

It's free at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Is this the right 1881 entry for Glasgow Hutchesontown

40 Rose St - all children b Glasgow

John Pender 29 gen labourer b Ireland
Ann 32 b Ireland
Elizabeth     4
Ellen  2
James  8 Months
Glasgow Hutchesontown ED 3 Page 16 Line 8

In 1891 they are shown as Penders and have additional children Catherine  3 and Teresa 9 Months

Address 24 Rose St and both birthplaces just show Ireland

Glasgow Govan ED 4 Page 7 Line 25

Have you checked Scotlands People for their respective deaths as their death certs will give you their parents names and mothers maiden name

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

The same website has the 1911 census and if they were both still alive at that time it should show their birth county

If the source of the marriage date and place are from the Scottish birth certificate of a child then it may be that either or both bits of information are incorrect.

Using the Irish civil registration index on www.familysearch.org to look for the marriage- there are 14 results searching for 'John Pender' marriages 1870-1879, only 1 in 1878 but it's in Co. Limerick.

see reply #8 for correction & clarification

Daughters Jane & Mary born 21 Jan.1874 Scotland-

Would be a good idea to search for a marriage in Scotland.

I have death certs for both ann and john

If they are Scottish death certs - they should show their respective parents names as outlined above

Re: marriage - here is the direct link to the Family Search records mentioned above

https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list/?page=1&countryId=1927084

You will need to search as follows:

Search for all John Pender/s marriages in 1872/73 and check the GRO reference

Then search for all Ann Hanlon entries for the same period and same county and check if any of the references match

I gave the link for the Irish civil registration index in earlier reply but mistakenly mentioned marriage results for 1878 so will explain further...

Cootehill is the Poor Law Union/Registration District for both Aghnamullen townland and parish in Co. Monaghan. None of the 14 marriages for 'John Pender' 1870/1879 are in that district or area. I also searched for 'Ann Hanlon' married 1870/1879 and there are 37 results but again none in Cootehill.

This is why I suggested searching for a possible marriage in Scotland.
