I am looking for any living relatives and any further information on the following family. I am a direct line to Walter DOUGLAS wife so I have information on him but it would be good to get information on his family, please?

Walter DOUGLAS m Margaret MARSHALL. Their son Robert:-

His occupation was Game Keeper. Their children

Walter Daniel b 1877 @ Wick m. BREMNER, Margarett Duncan 1906 @ Wick – had son William Bremner b 1909 @Wick. Walter’s occupation was engineer.

John Alexander Anderson b 1879 @ Wick
Isabella b 1880 @ Wick
Lucy Dowie b 1881 @ Wick
Robert Anstruther b 1883 @ Wick
George William b 1884 @ Bower

I think you should contact Caithness Family History Society - www.caithnessfhs.org.uk, and I am sure you you will be able to make contact with living Douglas's from Bower.

Putting in a search for my grandmother, Lucy, your post came up through Rootschat. Robert (a gamekeeper) and Jessie Douglas are my great grandparents.  They lived in Bower.  Lucy Dowie Douglas is my grandmother's name and Lucy's sibling, my great aunt, was Ellen.  They are both buried in Thurso as is Jessie.   My father, Robert, Lucy's son, died last October aged 91. 

I remember my father mentioning Walter - would he ever have been in South Africa building bridges?

Thank you.  I would like to share but how do we do this?   Is it via this web site only?  I can get hold of a  photograph of Robert and Jessie taken on their 25th Wedding Anniversary for example.

    Robert and Jessie were my great grandparents.  Their son John Anderson Alexander Douglas was my grandfather.   My mother was Mary douglas, John.A.A.Douglas's daughter.  My mother had a brother called Jack Douglas.   My mother Mary Douglas died aged 73yrs in 1989.   Jack died some years before.   I remember that my mother was still in touch with her aunt in Thurso when I was a child.  I  may still have a letter somewhere and I think the address was Pentland View.   I am one of four children , and my uncle John(known as Jack) had one son ,also called John.

Hi All,

I wonder if we can make a link with our ancestors from the Caithness area?

My Grandmother, Johan Rosie Douglas married my Grandfather Ovila Leduc on 31 Dec 1918 at Balloan Farm, Cawdor, Nairn while Ovila was stationed in the Cawdor area as a Canadian Soldier. Johan was born on 18 January 1900 at Blackheath, Thurso, Caithness, Scotland. They settled in Canada after the war.

Johan's parents were George Alexander Douglas and Isabella MacKay. George was born a twin to Patrick John Douglas on 12 June 1867 at Lyth, Bower, Scotland.
 
Their parents were Donald Douglas and Elizabeth Rosie. Donald was born in 1833, Halkirk, Scotland.

Donald's parents were George Douglas and Janet Mill. George was born in 1806 in Caithness, Scotland

George's parents were William Douglas and Ann Elder. I have no dates for them.

Donald's siblings, Ann, George and William emigrated to the Halton, Ontario Canada in 1862. Ann appears to have returned home to Scotland with her family before 1888.

Anyone out there have common ancestors?
