William Cook and Harriet Hollands
« on: Tuesday 30 September 14 22:44 BST (UK) »
I have been searching for William (Thomas ) Cook  the son of William and Harriet Cook, nee Hollands, both born circa 1818

I have traced this couple throughout the census except 1841 where they are nowhere to be seen

William and Harriet married in Lenham circa 1838, I believe this couple had a son born about 1840, because there are missing quarters from the registers  online  William Thomas may well be amongst these quarters

Father William 's occupation was always a wheelwright

I did find information an Family Search which may refer to a baptism for this child
baptised 25/10/1840 Rainham Kent, I am unable to go to the Kentish archives to search for the baptismal records

Any help looking for this child I would appreciate very much, he is a mystery at the moment, he is not on census from 1851 onwards and I suspect he might well have died by 1841 although to date I cannot find this family , his sister Emma Ann was baptised at St Margaret's Rochester 20/03/1842, I have sent for her birth cert, this may give me an address, she was registered March qtr 1842 Medway, William wasn't registered in this registration area according to the local register office

Thank you in anticipation

The parish records for Medway, including Rainham, are online

http://cityark.medway.gov.uk/query/results/?Mode=Search&PathList=/Z4a_Medway_Ancestors/

They are not indexed so it can be a bit of a trawl through the images.

Thank you all for your prompt reply.

Emma Ann born 1842 and baptised St Margaret's Rochester , this child died in Pancras 1850, this is where William and Harriet were in 1851 along with the oldest son being about 7,  having ordered Emma's  cert and  I am told the mother's maiden name is Hollands, so I think, hope, this is the right one although on her birth at the moment I have no idea what her father's occupation was , baptism shows coach maker

I couldn't find a registration for William Thomas, some quarters are missing but I have also assumed this is the right son baptised Rainham who must have died by 1851, he is not with his parents on any census

Confusingly there are 2 William and Harriet Cooks although I don't know what her maiden name is, my Harriet's is Hollands

1841, thank you Carole, I dismissed this due to father occupation thinking he was always a wheelwright, 1841 shows coach maker AND has a son William the right age to correspond with baptism so hopefully I have now got them on this census

I await Emma's birth cert, if occupation is coach maker and the maiden name is correct I will be a happy person

Thank you all for your help, I will let you know  the outcome from Emma's cert

Emma Ann Cook's cert arrived today, same details as baptism , hooray, one problem solved

Thank you all for your help, now got to work on William shown as 8 months on 1841, no sightings since but with a name like William Cook it might as wells be John Smith

This family moved circa 1844 to London via Lambeth to St Pancras, found them on all flowing census
