Mary Stearne born 1830 in Elmsett
« on: Friday 22 March 13 19:32 GMT (UK) »
Dear all,
I have been contacted by a lady in France who has a photograph of a Mary Stearne, born about 1830 in Elmsett. This is from a family diary with additional information recorded as follows:
Mary the daughter of Thomas and Mary Stearn was born on the 20th of December 1830 about five minutes before nine o’clcock in the morning --
Sarah daughter of the same parents was born on the 26th of January 1833 about five minutes before ten o’clock at night –
A stillborn female child of the same parents born April 10th 1838 about 10 o’clock in the morning.
The above named child Sarah Prudence Stearn breathed her last June 12th 1841about 4 o’clock in the morning at the age of nine years and about 4 months after a fortnights illness chiefly in the head and affected the brain.
July 29th 1843 Thomas Stearn father of the above children breathed his last about 10 minutes past 3 o’clock on Saturday afternoon after an affliction of five months borne I hope I may say with patience and resignation to the will of Heaven and in hope of a blessed resurrection. Aged 53 years.
                                                                                                                                                           Mary Stearn

Is this of any interest to any Stearne researchers. I have yet to research her, but she appears to be a housekeeper in 1871 at the Hall, Elmsett with her uncle Patrick, farmer.
She contacted me after reading Ray Longs database details.
Best

I discovered that on March 22nd 2013, a post by a member called Kevan that a woman from France had contacted him regarding a Mary Stearn, and that she had a photo and documents relating to this woman. I have tried twice without success to contact this Kevan, as there is no doubt that this Mary Stearn is the same person that left a number of properties to my grandfather Percy Campion Raynham, and the sale of these properties, notably in Whatfield in Suffolk, funded his new life in Australia. I have the sale documents from 1900 in my possession, and would dearly like to contact the lady in France to discover her connection to Mary Stearn. I too have a photo of Mary Stearn, and a number of Stearn family pieces of silverware brought to Australia by my grandfather. I hope that this message will strike a chord with the lady in France, or that someone can provide a contact address for this person.

Hello, I have been advised by a member called Rosie to contact you regarding Mary Stearn, and the lady who wrote to you from France. I have previously sent two messages to you, but perhaps they did not arrive. My grandfather was brought up by the Stearn family at Elmsett Hall, and was the recipient of Mary Stearn's property on her death. I would very much like to contact the lady in France as I'm sure we have a connection with Mary Stearn.Thank you.

Hi Alan

Welcome again  ;D

If you tried to send messages via the personal message system, they would not have arrived as you need a post count of 2 and above (which you now have).

According to his profile, Kevan was online here a few days ago and should receive email notifications that we have posted and hopefully come back soon.

Sorry, I seem to have lost the detail and email address. I think I emailed them some time ago with little luck,
