Above is the link to Mary's death announcement.
Died 27 Oct and appeared in the Glasgow Herald the following day.
This does state that she was the relict of George Ingram, Chief Constable of PAISLEY

Given that the funeral party left from Gilmour Street where the main police office was, it is likely that the lady was buried in either Woodside (west end of Paisley) which was opened in 1845 or in Hawkhead (southside) which was opened in 1891.

A lot really depends on when her husband died as it is likely that she was buried alongside him.

Renfrewshire Council may be able to assist

I was thinking the same thing Falkryn, but a bit more research more or less shows that George Ingram  probably died in Paisley 1871.
There is a match  on SP.
The deceased George Ingram was 48yrs old at time of death and if this is him, it rules out Hawkhead Cemetery.

EDIT:
A tree on Ancestry confirms that George died in Paisley on 21 Oct 1871.

1891:3 Hill St, Paisley

Mary I Ingram   63
Josephine I Ingram   22

At 1901, his widow is in Aberdeen, at the home of her daughter Isabella Carlyle Ingram, now Mrs Lumsden
1901 70 Devonshire Rd, St Machar Aberdeen

Isabel C Lumsden   53 B Closeburn, Dumfries
James G Lumsden   12 son B Peterhead
Tom G Lumsden   13 Son B Peterhead
Agnes Morrison   77 ??? Niece Student B Paisley
Fred G Pratt   12 Boarder born America
Jeanie Anderson   78 Servant B Peterhead

Thank you so much for all the information you have posted. Found it very interesting.

He died so young and his youngest child was only 3 years. I found George on the 1871 census but not on the 1881 and did wonder if he had died.

I see on the 1891 census she moved to Aberdeen the home of her daughter.  She wouldn't have come back to Dumfries as all her siblings went to Australia or New Zealand.

As you say, still doesn't give his burial place.

Thank you once again

Cupcake,
If you are in Scotland, check if your libary has a Monumental Inscription Book for Renfrewshire.

I located my own relatives grave in Woodside Cemetery from this book

Yes, I would imagine the Mitchell Library in Glasgow will have a Monumental Inscription Book for Renfrewshire.

The next time I am there, I'll have a look.

Thanks.
