Have looked up the census's

1851
George INGRAM  was 26yrs.  Police Officer Langholm, Dumfriesshire

1861
George INGRAM  was 36yrs.  Paisley  Burgh  Superintendent of Police

1871  was 46 yrs.  Paisley  Superintendent of Police

Can't find him on later census's. Perhaps his wife moved to Anderston after George died, which I don't when.

George INGRAM was born in Daviot, Aberdeen.

As Superintendant at that time he would have either been at the top or very close to it for the Burgh of Paisley (the museum & central library at Paisley may hold more information on him).
The Mitchell may not have anything early enough according to the website
Quote
Renfrewshire - Records of the County Police, later Renfrew and Bute (1858-c1974); Johnstone (1876-1930); Paisley (1883-1947); Port Glasgow (1871-1891); and Renfrew (1926-1930)

Unfortunately this widens the scope for your original question and although his widow may have died in Anderston the Paisley connection for her husband could mean her burial there.
(the Dumfries & Aberdeen connections may also have had some influence depending upon the family)

Thank you once again.

I'll look into everything you suggested. Yes, I agree, this widens the scope for your original question.

Hi, if the family were Catholic, they could also be buried at St Peter's Cemetery Dalbeth which is off London Rd

Bear in mind the Crematorium at the Western Necropolis opened in 1895

As far as I know they weren't Catholic, but thank you for the information, which may be useful another time.

deebel,

Thank you for the 1881 census. Have no idea where the parents were in 1881.It is possible George Ingram had died or certainly retired from the police . He would have 56 in 1881.
Mary Ingram (Irving) died 27 October 1911.

The 1871 census:

18 Moss Street, Paisley Middle Church, Renfrewshire

George Ingram 46     (Superintendent of Police)
Mary Ingram    42
Mary F Ingram  21
George J Ingram  20
William Ingram  18
Magga A Ingram  17
Janet Ingram  13
Archibald C M Ingram  9
Josephine Ingram  2

George Ingram was born in Daviot, Aberdeenshire, so , the parents may have retired to Aberdeen.

Just a thought. On the 1881 census     none of the siblings describe themselves as head of the household which may simply mean that the parents were away on the night of the census

deebel,

George Ingram 46 would be the head of the household & Mary Ingram 42 his wife. It just didn't state this on census.

George was born 1825.
