Greetings.

A couple of questions:

What does the 1881 census give as Edward's birthplace?

Have you found William and Sarah on an earlier census?  Her age and birthplace could help to narrow down when and where to look for a marriage.

All the best
Philip

It does not look like his wife was named Sarah.

Still in Berkeley Place in 1841 although no numbers are given:

Edwd. Jones     31     Baker
Mary Jones       27
Mary Watkins    28     F.S.

Ref. HO107 - 377 - 5 - 40 - 9.

The Charles Withey, brother in law, was bp. in 1820 St. Andrews, Clifton son of John and Phillipa.

Amongst their other children are Mary bp.27/6/1813 and this would concur with Edward's wife Mary in 1841.

There is a marriage for Edward Jones and a Mary Withey 22/1/1833 Bedminster, Somerset - perhaps he was working their at the time hence the marriage taking place there.

So, this proves that Edward's wife was a Mary, rather than a Sarah and doesn't look like they had any surviving children.    So is the Edward Jones, Baker, not yours after all?

Thank you all for the information

You could be right about his wife being Mary

I got the 1881 census for Edward Jones at "Berkeley Place" window

But for the 1871 census I only found a Edward Jones and Sarah so I thought his wife was Sarah

I was unable to find Edward Jones at "Berkeley Place" for the 1871 census as a baker
