Thomas George MARLOW was born in 1838 in Kennington, Surrey, third son of John and Jane Lovell MARLOW. He married in Dunedin in NZ in 1866 to Ann CANTLE. Have not been able to find when he or Ann arrived.
Thomas was a warehouseman, and he and Ann had a number of children in Dunedin, before moving north to he Auckland area. Thomas died 1930 aged 91 and Ann in 1942 age 104.
I have been through the NZBDMs website, PapersPast and the Burial Index, where I found most of them in the Auckland area. Have also seen the public trees on A******y.
Is anyone researching this family. There may not be many descendants in NZ, if any at all, as most of the children appear either did not marry or married late. One son did marry young and he appears to have gone to South Australia.
Thomas had a brother Valentine James MARLOW, who had a daughter May Emily, born 1876 in London, who married into my CLARKE line in Bombay in 1900. They had one son Beaumaurice Valentine CLARKE, who also ended up in Australia, being in NSW by about the start of WW2.
Thanks

Hi SH,
Re your comment re "strange entries - 3 Children Registered with consecutive numbers in 1873"
I believe the numbers shown at BDM are the result of copying the alphabetical list for each year from a register compiled at the end of each year. So all Marlow births will be in consecutive number order, based on first letter of first given name, i.e. Elizabeth, Louisa, Percy.
If you check the birth microfiche, you will find the folio numbers are nowhere near consecutive, and the three births were at different times, in different places.

Mmm ... a very brief courtship ... or had the couple known each other previously whilst in Melbourne (or some other part of Victoria) ?
Thomas MARLOW might be found on a passenger list into Australia ?
Possibly (if not found on shipping list to NZ), he may have been amongst the hundreds of (unnamed) men who travelled steerage class to the goldfields of Otago ?

I do not have access to the fiche.
So Elizabeth and Louisa are unlikely
Percy Cantle MARLOW must be right however

Thanks Signal Hill and John B.
The Victoria Outwards Passenger lists has Miss Cantle as 21 which is close enough to be her.
Victoria Outwards also has a T MARLOW age 28 in 1863 to Otago Port Chalmers, on the Alhambra, but not sure if that is him as there is a Thomas G MARLOW age 25 arriving in Melbourne on the Winefred in Apr 1864.

Mr Marlow a passenger on the Hero ss from Melbourne to Otago arr 16 March 1865 ?
I have transcribed a very dodgy passenger List for the Hero (also Geelong). PapersPast could not identify the vessel at all in its OCR.
I cannot satisfactorily reconcile this with the PROV record and none of the total passengers add up either
