What sort of information do you hope to find?

Presuming you found them in the 1841 census, what information did that give about them?

Hi,
The only info I have of them is that they were my Great 2 grandfathers parents.I got this from his marriage cert and his death cert.I'm just assuming they were living at Muiryfold Grange.
I can't find a birth cert for my Great 2 grandfather either.It's a mystery.
I can't find marriage or births for any of them.I was hoping someone had them in their family tree and knew something about them.
Thanks Jane

Hi again,
Can't find them in the census either.
He was a farmer and she was a domestic servant.

OK, it may be easier to start with your x2 great grandfather and see what is known about him. From what you've said, you have copies of his marriage and death registrations which name Margaret Robertson, domestic servant, as his mother. From what you've said, his father was either Charles or John Morrison, farmer. Some questions that might help in the search:

  • what was your x2 great grandfather's name, what was his age at marriage and death, where did he marry and die?
  • did his marriage registration state that one or both of his parents were deceased (not a guarantee that they actually were dead!)?
  • His father - was he Charles on one certificate and John on the other? If so which name on which certificate?
  • Have you found your x2 great grandfather in any census? Where? Age and birthplace?
  • What is the connection with Muiryfold, Grange
