Thank you if you could have a look for me next  time. I have a death date for Helen Grierson of 1862 . She may have been buried under her maiden name of Helen McKellar. Alexander Grierson appears to have died between 1851 and 1861.
Museum man has sorted me out on the likely location of their census records as being Barnacabar, which is very close to Kilmun, so a buriel there could be likely. In the 1861 census Helen gave her birthplace as Glenfinart, so it all fits as being that area.
He also indicated that his records for Kilmun cemetery only showed a Margaret McKellar, see an earlier post

Thank you Sybil, the cemetery appears to be in a lovely spot. Somewhere I saw a reference that they had a list of burials contained in the cemetery, at Kilmun.
This may be a listing of inscriptions, as against a list of buriels. Some of the very poor most likely could not aford a headstone.

I apologise if I have not answered anyone in this topic but I am here now.
any Charles Johnston would be a start and I do realize that it may well be Johnstone or Johnson.
One Charles my gx3 g'father died 1857 in Kirn. he  married x 2 - his first wife Margaret Scrimgeour died bef 1809 and second Elizabeth McKeller died 1864(daug of John McKellar and Mary Whyte).
This family with various members remained in Dunoon.
inc Gilbert b1818, John b 1811 and Duncan 1806- 1874.
There were several female johnston.
Any help.
PS my earliest JOHNSTON in Dunoon is Charles who arrived there c 1804 from E.Lothian via Greenock.

Visited Dunoon and Kirn in July.
found my Duncan Johnston (my gx2 gt uncle) 1806 -1874 and some of his family.
Great.
Took some other Johnston pics just in case - yet to check. Wish I had more time when there.

Thanks also to Museum Man for his wonderful help  whilst there.

Ref: Kilmun Monumental Inscriptions

I was thinking of buying the book listing the Kilmun Monumental Inscriptions, but am interested to know if it contains any monument inscriptions for Fraser, McGibbon, or Weir names.

Thanks in advance to anyone who has the book and can check for me.
Fraser, Hall, Mackay, McColl, Paine, Ronneberg, Thomson, Weir.

Thank you museum man 2 for the reply and offer.

The problem is, I don't know which of my 100s of Fraser and Weir relatives are buried in Kilmun. I only have a list of those born there.

My intention was to go through the book, or at least a list, to look at names and dates and see if they fit.

I'll pm my birth's list to you anyway on the offchance some might be buried there.

Thanks again.
