Upon production of an testimoniall from Tillicultrie
Robert Alexander in this paroch and Bessie Allexander
in the said paroch gave up yr names to be proclaimed in
order to marriage and laid in pawn two dollars.

paroch = parish
yr = their

As the couple come from different parishes, they have to be proclaimed (have the banns read) in both. They have already given the session clerk at Tillycoultrie their names for proclamation and shown the session clerk in Robert's parish a testimonial to that effect. When you gave up your name for marriage you paid a deposit (usually called pledges), in this case two dollars (continental silver coins, with currency in Scotland, as being silver). This money was returned to you if you married within forty days and there was no scandal attached to the wedding.

GR2, I was hoping this might have been their marriage but as you can see it is not. Thanks for the great job on reading that.

Many Thanks

The marriage registers do not always give the actual date of marriage. Most just record the couple "contracting in order to marriage" as this one does.
