Likely to be the farmer Daniel from 1861 you would think. Not sure how we firm this up to work back to John born c. 1829/30 especially if mother's maiden name is marked wrong on his death cert  :-\

John and Helen don't seem to have followed a clear naming pattern for their children from what I have seen on LDS index entries.

I have tracked back the Mary Drysdale which keeps appearing, this appears to be a different line.
I am considering 2 possibilities for no birth cert for John, he was not registered or illegitimate, another twist is that John and Helen were married in Glasgow by the Rev John Steedman, United Presbyterian Minister in Stirling ?
I will trace back all the leads suggested.
I will welcome any further suggestions.

While it will not help with your search, it might be of interest that " Mcindoe" (and perhaps "Mcildowie") are probably derived from "MacIain duibh", meaning son of black-haired John, a name that appeared frequently in several Highland clans.
