This is so helpful (and so confusing because we can't seem to figure out the Williams). I'm descended from William and Penelope's son James who came to Canada in 1870 with his wife Jane and six children. Penelope came as well. If anyone has updated information, I'd love to read about it. It's amazing to be able to learn about my Scottish roots.

Glad you can make sense of it all! I am a possible relative in Northumberland, England. Just need to find the missing link between your line and mine. The John Glass listed on the 1841 and 1851 census is the brother of my 3xgreatgrandfather Robert Glass. A 3rd brother is probably the shepherd who went to Wemyss Castle in the 1820's.

Do send me a PM if you need more information or clarification.

Belfordian, if I had a clue how to PM you, I would, but I'm totally new to the Forum world. Interesting connections, though, in a short time.

As far as I remember you click on the tiny green icon on the left hand side of the screen. Do you live in Canada? I have met one of you who lives now in Michigan and we visited The ancestral home at Kelso when he came over here.
