Are you trying to trace further back? Or trying to find what happened to the sons in later life?

If the former, have you got tbe 1906 marriage cert to see the name and occupation of his father?

Next step marriage cert then
With a surname Smith, I think you will have to get certs at each step of the way to make sure you are following the right ones.

Where and when was he born according to 1911?

i meant to say it is my grandfathers birth cert i have , it is his father albert and mother louisa emma garner i know nothing off , in the irish 1911 cenus they were living at 47 blackrock ballintemple cork ,

Smith   Albert   31   Male   Head of Family   Church of Ireland
Smith   Louisa   26   Female   Wife   Church of Ireland
Smith   Sidney   3   Male   Son   Church of Ireland
Smith   Albert      Male   Son   Church of Ireland
Garner   Cyril   9   Male   Brother in Law   Church of Ireland

albert was a gardener by trade and moved to cork to work at ardcairn lodge sometime after his marriage , albert married in aylesbury in 1906 but i cant find a marriage cert anywhere to prove this and to prove who the parents are , i cant seem to find Albert and his family in the 1901 cenus either , albert and his family moved back to england aylesbury ?? after ardcairn lodge closed

Sorry, I wasnt very clear.
Yes I know it is your grandads birth cert you have
THat leads back to Albert and Louisa nee Garner and the marriage in Aylesbury.

That is easy to find on freebmd:

Oct/Nov/Dec 1906
Aylesbury
Ref 3a 1664
Albert Smith / Louisa Emma Garner

That cert can be ordered from www.gro.gov.uk

Hopefully you will then have a fathers name and occupation for that Albert.

Does the 1911 Irish census not give ages and places of birth (sorry I am not familiar with it) like the Englisn one? It was Albert and Louisa ages and pobs that I was asking about.
Hopefully that info, plius their fathers details from the marriage cert, will enable you to get back further with the Smiths.
The Garners will be easier - have you looked for earlier records of Louisa Emma? Again based on the age and pob from 1911, if it is given!

Hi,

I was fascinated to see that you are a descendant of Louisa Emma Garner. I did a lot of research on the Garner's over quite a few years for a friend of mine who sadly passed away several months ago. Her father in law was Louisa's elder brother Joseph William Garner b. circa 1884 in Aylesbury.
Joseph William came to Australia in the early 1900's. I was aware that Louisa Emma married Albert Smith in 1906. My late friend obtained the marriage cert. and from memory Albert's father was Alfred Smith and Albert was employed as a gardener at Eythrope near Waddesdon. Eythrope and Waddesdon Manor were owned by the Rothschild's. Louisa had several other brother's Ernest, Thomas (he died young) and Cyril James born in 1901. Louisa's mother died in 1904? which is probably why Cyril was living with her and husband. I don't have all my info. at hand at the moment, but would love to hear from you.
Regards, Jen
