In 1871, John is 24 yrs born abt 1847 and baby Ann is 20 months old.
That marriage would then seem a bit too early  ???

Information on 1911 census puts marriage c.1862/3

Suz

Worth a certificate then  :). Perhaps there were children before Ann. Paul perhaps got the marriage date from 1911.

Apparantly there were 3 more children who died

Thornhill, Cresswell, Sisson, Harriman, Cripps, Eyre, Walter, Marson, Battison, Holmes, Bailey, Hardman, Fairhurst Noon-mainly in Derbys/Notts-but also Northampton, Oxford, Leics, Lancs-England

I'm a relative beginner at this and I really appreciate the time and efforts. I'm not naive in thinking I can find out specifics but ultimately I guess I'd love to garner all the info and trace living relatives. Thanks all. The great reputation of Chesire folk is very accurate!

Whilst we appreciate you're a beginner, Paul, it would have helped if you had said you had the census information.
However, you may now have the marriage details, so that is something for you to look at next. Plus, as you have 1911 details, which we are not allowed to post here, you will know how many children John and Anne had and be able to look for those births also, when you have a surname for Anne.

Good luck with your research

A possible marriage is:
John Brown & Ann Fennah at St. Mary's on the Hill, Chester. 19th November 1865. John age is given as 19yrs. Fathers names Joseph Brown & Thomas Fennah.

The marriage at Eastham, St. Mary give the grooms age as 41 so too old for this John Brown.

Thinking about it, if they are Catholic, would it not have to be a Catholic church :-\
or a Civil Marriage like his son John William in 1903.

To add a little bit more to this in case it's the correct one
Both John and his father Joseph have labourer as Occupations.
Ann's residence is given as Saltney and Ellen Fennah was a witness.
