"Peterhead Sept 29th - The Fraser, Hindmarsh, from Newcastle to Liverpool, was wrecked this day on the South Head. The crew were most miraculously saved by means of Captain Manby's apparatus under charge of the coastguard. She has steam machinery on board which will most likely be saved.
Sept 29th - the Fraser went to pieces last night and little of her materials saved; the greater part of her cargo is expected to be saved"

Hello Westoe
I followed your advice and contacted the list administrator about posting the first page of the Trinity House petition . If you follow the link below you will see it. Interested to know what your interpretation of the bracketed word after Triton is.  Other pages of the petition are not so interesting for Mariners - recommendations from ship owner, church minister, proof of marriage , youngest child etc.

The image is too large for our gallery so I have uploaded to the main website instead.
Use the following link for your post on the list.

cheers Jo

Thank you, Jo. Like Peter, I cannot fault your reading of the ship names and I too am stymied as to that word in brackets. Sorry that I cannot help.

Cheers,
Westoe
