I have two Salkeld people in my extended line. Both females and from Westmorland. Cumberland and Westmorland seem to account for the most names in any specific area for the name on Free BMD 1837-1857. Newcastle-upon-Tyne has a fair share of the name too.

Yes BarryD, I've seen loads of trees with them on Ancestry - I'm always looking for a related family link but never find one!!! Especially to the Lords and Ladies lot  :P

I think you'd have to get the birth cert. to be absolutely positive it's the right person but it looks like a good possibility  :)
