Location of Foundry - Leeds
« on: Saturday 23 August 14 16:59 BST (UK) »
Has anyone got a street map of Leeds or even know where a foundry was in Elland Road c. 1882?

The Leeds Tithe map has a map for 1891 but Elland Road has no detail of what is there.

I have in front of me a list of all commercial premises in Leeds 1889/1890.
(Shame they are all listed by company name/trade and a map reference)
So the majority of foundries are over in Hunslet area, would you happen to have a name?
[20+ foundries are in operation within the Leeds boundary]

Just to add: My map shows down to individual properties level, but unless the property shows up as foundry I am at loss to identify.
(Nothing jumping out at me on Elland Road.)

It was called Moor foundry. 3 x gt granduncle rented it up until june 1882 when he died. Have seen adverts in the newspapers after that saying it was for rent once more and a quick search online brings up this:

Correct url is www.gracesguide.co.uk/John_Smith_(of_Leeds) - No http
Searched length of Elland Road through into Meadow Lane, found nothing marked up as Moor Foundry. (Even expanded to look at Holbeck)
