Thanks John

I didn't think of looking in that section. When I first joined SP ages ago, it wasn't very useful.

As he died in London, I though the Nat Archives would be the best bet.

I like old handwriting and signatures and always doubt transcriptions ;D

Andy,
I hpe this is not TOO late  :)

Extract:-
""
(Thomas Telford ) never married and died in London, 2nd September 1834 aged 77.
""

The book Langholm As It Was has a two page biography of this son of a Westerkirk farmer'.  It was originally published in 1912 but was republished by one of the author's grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Add a great for the relationship to the older author, John Hyslop, of the original version (born 1827).  The later version was published in 2002.  The authors are Hyslop & Booth.

I am not a relation but to anybody who has 'Langholm' family it is of particular interest.   For Langholm read Eskdalemuir, Ewes. Westerkirk and Canonbie et al.

Regards
Reiver

Hi Andy,

I was interested reading your family link re:Anne Telford - Thomas Telford.

Anne Telford (26/7/1858 or 1/3/1866) I believe to be one of my forebears.

Did you have any success ?

The Dumfries library has both the new and old version, if you want to buy it expect to pay £280 - £300

Sorry Reiver, I meant the old version but the new version is out of print I believe as I have tried to get a hold of it so it will cost a fair bit too!

My reason for wanting it is my gggg grandfather taught the Malcolm children at Westerkirk, he is Archibald Graham, they went onto great things!

I know this is an old post but I am related to Thomas Telford on my dads side, family name Morrison.
He has our family tree.....which goes further back than Thomas. I will have to see if he still has it.
