I got an email saying the Valuation Rolls were free up till 6 Jan - but when I try to access them, it is asking for credits!  Mind you, I also had trouble accessing "Free UK records" from Anc... over Christmas.   Getting to the stage that when I see "Free records"... my immediate feeling is "As if"  /  "If only".... !!!

Hi

I believe it is the index that is free but you need credits to access the image.

I think it makes it quite clear that it is access to the index that is free. I've just looked up my grandad in 1925 in Glasgow and the index shows his name and the address of the house he occupied. Most useful. Cost me nothing to do that.

Lots of excellent information (and several clues to other potential relatives) I found my gt grandfather - NOT where I expected him to be - and his daughters; my grandmother (newly married) both her sisters also recently married too.  One address (youngest gt aunt) I remembered her talking about instantly when I saw it, Onslow Drive in Dennistoun Glasgow.

Definitely worth digging around in.  ;)

Am I doing something wrong?

When I search on the Valuation Rolls for 1925 all I'm getting is that there are X number of results but then need credits to search further.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

If you look at the bottom of the page immediately below "Do the search" it gives you a green "View (free)" button click on that.
