Prison Records for 1970 onwards for Percival Norman Thorn.Where to find??

My father, Percival Norman Thorn, b1931-d2003 was in prison on several occasions for Incest and other crimes during my early life.
What I ask is....Can I gain access to prison records and, if so, will the records give me the dates of the crimes???
Reason I ask is because I still have some unanswered questions regarding my fathers` 1st marriage !!!

Thanks for your suggestion about the Newspaper Reports of the Trials but I do not know where to start .... Don`t know dates etc...This is why I thought I might find more if I had access to Prison Records.....

I just wonder if I contacted the Criminal Records Office and asked them if Information is available....What do you think??? Worth a try

I subscribe to Ancestry UK.....Never tried Findmypast.....Will do so shortly....Will let you know if they have anything extra that Ancestry does not have....

Zoolane. Always worth a try; they can only so not, or not reply if the worst comes to the worst.Regarding confidentiality then this doesn't really apply; if he was found guilty in open court then the whole report is surely public property and however unpleasant a matter of public record. You can search newspapers by Names so that might be worth a try.

Not sure of which area of Warwickshire you require - but I would be tempted to go to the local library, and see what newspapers they have to view, or maybe they can point you in the right direction.  Many libraries now have local newspaper records to view.  Not sure that FindMyPast or Ancestry would be of use, as the dates you quote are very recent (in genealogical terms).

I think prison records are held in National Archives.
Also there are time limits ie a set number of years before they can be accessed.
A social worker might be able to locate some details of records held in a family care file.
Contact the social services in the area the incest took place.
