1841 look-up - John BASTIAN (b 1830 St Keverne)
« on: Saturday 14 May 11 08:14 BST (UK) »
John Henry Bastian was baptised St Keverne, 17 Oct 1830, s/o John and Jane.

If my assumptions are correct, John, senior, died in 1832 and Jane re-married, possibly to George Pashbee. I have not been able to find record of George and Jane in 1841. George was a mariner and may have been away at sea.

Is there any trace of a John Bastian (11) in a household also including a Jane (30/33) with a surname that could be a corruption of Pashbee, probably Cornwall but possibly Devon?

P.S. Alternatively may be living with Cowling family

It now appears that Jane, (as Paseby), may have been living on her own in Falmouth in 1841.

Family Search has a John Bastian (11) living in a household in Germoe, Helston at that time. I would appreciate further details of this entry.

Thanks, Ciderdrinker. At this time I'm not too sure that they are relevant.

What I know is that Jane Bastian, widow, (d/o Robert Cowling) married George Pashbee in 1835 in Falmouth.
Jane, daughter of Robert was baptised 31 Jan 1808. (Parentage confirmed from certificate of 3rd marriage in 1852 and from identification in will).

What I am trying to connect is:- marriage of John Bastion (common seaman) and Ann Jane Couling in Falmouth 6 Dec 1828. Baptism of John Henry Bastian 17 Oct 1830 at St Keverne. Son of John and Jane. Father John "seaman of Falmouth". Burial of John Bastian, 27, "pauper", of St Keverne on 3 May 1832. A John Bastian (s/o George and Elizabeth) was baptised in St Keverne on 27 May 1804.

I fully accept that these events and individuals may be totally unrelated. My hope was that if I could find John Henry in 1841 it might help to clarify things.
