Chipping Norton: William Norgrove
« on: Saturday 13 October 12 05:15 BST (UK) »
Hello Phil
I see that you have been very helpful to others re Oxfordshire - could you perhaps have a go at this one for me (I live in Australia).
My ancestor William Norgrove born 12 April 1807 and baptised 10 May 1807 Chipping Norton: I would like to know about his parents - perhaps the baptism record might show who they were?
Thanks
Norgrove, Buswell, Medland

Hi Lauraa - welcome to Rootschat   :)

I checked the transcripts for Chipping Norton (OFHS) William's parents were Richard & Ann Norgrove,  they had 8 other children baptised in Chipping Norton.

On Ancestry there is a member submitted tree with a lot of information on this family including copies of records from the Public Records Office pertaining to Williams service, and a photo of William's wife Mary Ann Marsh.  If you don't have access to Ancestry I can perhaps try and send a message to the compiler to see if they are interested in making contact with you.

This inquirey/thread would be better as a new subject however rather than as a reply on someone elses queery - I shall see if I can get a moderator to make it so.

Hi Lauraa,

Welcome from me too  :)

I have split your topic from the original thread which was an old thread. Hopefully you may get more information if it is a separate enquiry - as DebbieG has done so already.

best wishes

Hi Sue

Yes that would be it - I am waiting for Lauraa to get back as the person with the tree on A....try has done so much,  she even has a photograph of that original marriage entry from the registers,  that I think the best result would be to try and get her and Lauraa in touch with each other.

Hi Lauraa - well we can give it a try,  if you post once more on this board you will be able to use the personal message system (you have to post 3 times,  it's to cut down on it being used for spam messages)  if you send me your E-mail address in a PM,  I can use the message system on Ancestry to send it on to the compiler of the tree I mentioned,  she really does seem to have done a lot of work on this family.

Happy New Year Jim,
I researched Mum's (Jeanette Adele Davies [Norgrove]) family tree for her 80th birthday.
But I didn't find many relatives of William Norgrove or you, and I don't know your side of the family. Can I give you any details that I've discovered? I'm about to be logged off from the Libraries up to date computer so I'll be in touch later.
Thanks for your reply, Laura & Alistair
