The Mystery of Mrs Richards 1912....??
« on: Monday 20 October 14 10:15 BST (UK) »
Evan Richards became the Minister at Lydney Baptist Church in 1912. The Gloucester Journal 11th January 1913 states that he returned from Christmas having married during the holidays.
I cannot find a name for his wife and more important I cannot find a marriage during that period ???
Can anyone and in particular anyone from Lydney Gloucestershire please help ??
Regards and thanks in advance

Hello,
Where did he return from? Do you have year of birth and place?

I just found a tree with some information but not the marriage and then realised it's yours  :)

Did he marry as a single man in the marriage you have?

Hello Heywood,
He was a single man at that time. He was born 1887. This man is an enigma. My grandparents worked for him in 1921 as housekeepers. He was a minister in Lydney between 1912 and 1919.
The wife in question dies in 1918 on the 13th of December . I have only a snippet on that as I do not subscribe to the site with the full newspaper report.
Thanks for your help so far everyone it is very much appreciated
Regards
Mike

Hi Priscilla,

The church does not have any records neither does the baptist union...Ive tried.
The index of the Angus Library in Oxford where most Baptist records are  has also drawn a blank ..

Thanks for your help

Regards
Mike

Think Lydney comes under Chepstow RegDist, and in Q4 of 1918 there's a death of a Jeannie McN Richards, age 31.  Could the marriage have been in Scotland, perhaps?

Hi Smalltown girl (cutename  :) )
I think Scotland is a good possibility as he had travelled to Canada from Scotland in 1909 as a missionary to Canada with a Scots missionary !!!
So maybe  :)
Thanks
So Scotland for a marriage.....
