Laurence Dalton circa 1844 Leggensrath

I  have been informed of a  Laurence Dalton- son of John Dalton and Judy Hennelly. Baptised at St Johns Parish.  Birth date -4 March 1844. 

My question now is whether he immigrated to the USA. I will be seeking indications of his
remaining in Ireland.  For example, record of death/burial would rule out immigration.

I see now a post about more resources for Kilkenny and will seek to farm them. 

However, any assistance I receive to move me along would be appreciated.

Leggetsrath, I am told, would be the correct spelling
