Howard C Jorgensen who became Neal H Thornton

Hi everyone,

I made a bit of a break-through and made a really interesting discovery that my ancestor Howard C. Jorgensen changed his name to Neal H Thornton probably after moving from Wisconsin to Missoula, Montana. He was born on April 6, 1896 and died october 13, 1956. He was the son of Carrie (Karen) Prebensen and Christian Jorgensen. and had a sister Harriet (b 1886), a sister Margaret (b 1885), a sister Julia (b. 1888) and a brother Morgan (b. 1890). Howard's first wife was Lauretta E. Schlintz and they had 2 twin sons together; Leland and Lorraine who were born in 1918. The information I am stuck on is regarding his second wife Ruby M. Thornton. I don't know when they married - I can say it was between 1920 and 1930. I also can not find out her exact birth date - I know it is approx 1901. Or the details of her parents and siblings.

Any help or assistance in regards to Ruby's details would be wonderful.

When and where are the last/first records you've found with him as Howard Jordensen/Neal Thornton?

If he's your ancestor, then have you contacted descendants from his sisters & brother to see what family information they might have?

Washington Marriage Records :

Neal H Thornton of Missoula m Ruby M Baird also of Missoula 18 July 1927 at the Court House in Seattle. No info on parents on certificate.

An online tree (to be treated with caution) says he and 1st wife Lauretta were divorced in July 1925 which makes sense with date for 2nd marriage.

The 1940 census states Ruby born 1901 Montana so this looks like her in 1920 :

Just a note about the divorce of Howard and Lauretta (my paternal grandparents)...the divorce was in 1921.  Lauretta remarried in 1922 and had daughters with her new husband in 1923 and 1927.
