Family Search perhaps has other entries re the family r.g.

Harold's death in Illinois is here : https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N3RX-K2Z

so it looks as though all the family emigrated. You may be able to find more on that site.  :)

Free BMD http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl  has the marriage of Alice Pimble and Harry Parr in the indexes- 1876

Heywood - Thanks for your replies. Very helpful information. This seems to be the right family. I'm just a beginner, so can you tell me how to go back further and how to get more detail, especially about Harry and Alice Parr?

Hello again,

I am a bit confused with the two records for 1881 and 1891 - children seem to have different names.  :-\ I will look more closely.

You have Alice and children in 1881 from Family Search.
Here is Henry, I think, also in 1881 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X3BD-8RN which then gives his parents and siblings.  He is a tailor and this fits with the previous 1891 information.

The marriage index is on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl and you could send for that certificate.

The children in 1881 are with matching births on Free BMD

Beatrice       1875 Aston
Victor          Harry Victor C   1878  Aston
Bertram      Arthur Bertram J  1879  Aston
Leonard     Albert Leonard 1880 Aston

1891 seems to have:
Beatrice as Alice; Victor as Charles; Bertram as Arthur and Leonard as Leonard.

Phew... thought they were 2 different families.

So you have Henry Parr with parents in 1881 John Parr and Eliza in 1881.

You will notice that there is a step daughter Mary Ferris with them.

Free BMD has a marriage in 1875 - John Parr and Mary Eliza Ferris are possible spouses. This of course makes you wonder who is the mother of the children in 1881. census - including the married Henry.

1861 has Henry 6 yrs with parents John and Louisa living in Bedminster Somerset.
He has siblings John 7 yrs; Henry 6 yrs; Walter 3 yrs and Frederick 7 months.

There is a death in 1874 for Louisa Parr 42 yrs in Aston which would fit.

1871 has the family with Henry and Walter plus:
Frank Whyatt Parr 10 yrs; Hubert Dalton Riley 6 yrs and Florence L M 5 yrs.
You can find these births in the index on Free BMD

There is a possible marriage for John Parr and a Louisa Whyatt in Bristol in 1853.  Thinking of name of Frank Whyatt.  A child's birth certificate would help you.

Hope all this makes sense!
