Edward Ditchett Tucker
« on: Sunday 07 September 14 19:26 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the parents of Edward Ditchett Tucker born 1842 Bath Somerset
We have two marriages for him.
To Charlotte Pearse in July 1873
Then later to Catherine Annie Hinge in 1878
Also have all his children but cannot find his parents.
This seems strange with a name like Edward Ditchett Tucker born 1842 Bath.
He had two sons who also were given the Ditchett name
Edward Ditchett Tucker born 1879 Died 1879 Bath Somerset
Also Walter Edward Ditchett Tucker born 1890 died 1892 Bath Somerset.
We know lots about him but cannot find a birth record or parents.
Any help would be wonderful.
Kind regards Chris

If he was chr Aug 1837 he could well have been born just before Civil Registration began (Jun? 1837) and that is why a birth reg has escaped you.

Everything fits with him being the Edward Dilesset Tucker baptised in 1837, except of course Dilessit isn't quite Ditchett.  The FreeREG entry was taken from an older transcript, I've checked that and it does say "Dilesset?". (I.e. with the question mark so the transcriber was not certain.)

I also have images of the BTs. Rather blurred but it looks there most like Dilefeoll. The writer does occasionally use the old-fashioned "ss" and not cross his "t"s so Ditessott is possible, but it's certainly not Ditchett.  But of course the writer of the BTs may have misread the original register, or the original recorder misheard the parents.

Hi
Just to say a very big thank you to all of you for your help.
That's brilliant we have been trying to find his parents for years.
Now have to find the marriage for the parents so we may find out his mothers maiden name.
But this I think will be very difficult.
Thank you again for your help
Kind regards Chris
