Here is a little info on the Chapel.  It was build in 1822.  There was a small burial ground in the front of the Chapel but was removed for road widening in 1905.
I guess from what em said that the burial ground was somewhere near the bottom of the steps.
The church is less than a mile from the Alms houses but at the other side of the town center.

Hi Charlotte,
Can i also suggest you try Lister lane Cemetery.
It is only 1/4 mile from Arden road where the alms houses are, and was patronized by the Crossley Family, lots of them are buried in Lister Lane.
The original burial books are in Calderdale cemeteries department, Park Wood crematorium, Elland.
There is a Monumental inscriptions book in Halifax Library archive department and The Friends of Lister Lane cemetery have a detailed account of the burials.

Hi Charlotte

The  place of burial for both James and Ann Hargreaves is Kingcross Methodist Church Halifax. grave number 798

James Burial 19th March 1895

Ann Burial 18th July 1896

There could have been a grave stone put up by the Crossley charity but I have no Idea if the graveyard and head/flatstones are still there-Maybe other posters may know this. Also could be a MI/Dedication for them.

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Hi All,
In answer to Dobbys question, all the graveyard in King Cross Meth's is in tact although a great deal overgrown.
Doby, did you not get a section number as well, it should really read old section etc Y 11 etc.
My families graves are on a section near the church and on row O plot 11.
Give me some more detail if you can and i will see what i can do, the foliage is dying back.
There is no M I for the graveyard, i would love to find the time to index the burial book.
PS i hope the no is not the burial number, as in the list number entry in the book.
Regards,
Andy.

Hi Andy,
Yes the number is from the burial Kingscross burial register, But is the same number for both entries which usually means grave number but could be wrong on this!

Dobby, You are a real ferret ;D ;D
Amazing what you dig up, and now for me I must  try and digest it.
Those who have "gentlemen after names- well they don't quite fit the mould but one shouldn't assume anything until proven ::)

Thank you again.

Hi, Charlotte,

Have you found a baptism for Jonathan Thomas born 1790's from the bibble date you mentioned.

Sam of Thomas and NANCY NOT ANN?????????

Jonas of THOMAS (No mothers name)
Your link to 1800 removal order (Only ELLEN)Thomas is Ann Taylors Parents Jonas and Ellen

Very Thin. link???

As your other thread. about Jonas living in Illingworth. Thomas bapt 4 dec 1786 of Thomas and ANN (No infant death found for Thomas)in the nonconformist register abode was Overden and Illingwoth was part of Overden.
The other names George & Martha also appear in the South parade methodist chaple with Hannah and Samuel of Thomas and Nancy Bapts that make me think they are related both of father Thomas 1750's along with James.

Early days. Maggie may go to Halifax herself as she seems to be very interested.
Your getting nearer.

Dobby
