George Monk b. ABT 1828 Bexley Kent

I am researching the siblings and parents of George Monk of Kent

Arrived in Sydney Aust. as an assisted immigrant on the ship Blemheim in 5 Jul 1855
George aged 26, Occupation: gardner, CofE, could read & write.
Mary A aged 27
George aged 3
Thomas aged 1

Mary Ann was his wife (nee Hatherill) ... I have no information on their marriage but accept that it could have been in Kent or Somerset

Her younger sister Harriett Hatherill was also onboard the Blemheim (Single female aged 19, General Servant, from Gladstonbury Somerset, CofE, read & write).

George fathered 3 children to Mary Ann who died 1857. He then married sister Harriett and fathered an additional 5 children before death in 1904. Harriett died 1903.

It's been interesting and confusing to sort this family out so far. Census info will probably throw light on the family but will we ever find their marriage.

Another interesting find was that Harriett was actually his 3rd marriage. Yes after the death of Mary Ann he married Emma Young in 1857. She died in 1858. (George didn't waste time when looking for a mother for his existing 3 children).

i think this cuold be his wife's family in 1841, in Crayford Heath, Bexley subdistrict of the Dartford regsitration district of Kent. They are all listed as born out of county except Harriett.

Thomas Hathriel    40 - carpenter
Mary Hathriel    40
William Hathriel    15
Mary Hathriel    13
Harriett Hathriel    5

HO107, piece 481, folio 9, page 9

In 1851, Harriet is the only child at home with Thomas (b Heydon, Essex) and his wife Mary Ann (b Rugmont? bedfordshire). Harriet is b Crayford.
