I am looking for information on my grandmothers family. She was brought up with her sibings at Logie Pert, just outside Montrose. Can anyone give me information and/or point me in the direction of where the Logie records are held. Thank you

Hi,
Can't see any Sher* living Logie Pert on the 41 or 51 census - which century are we talking about? A wee bit more information would help  :)

1927 for sure as my gran was born there. She moved after a fire at her home when she was in her early teens. It's information prior to this I am looking for. I am only just starting to look. My grans generation I have information on, so I am looking for information prior to this.

Hi ,

From your other posts I think we're looking at Scottish records after 1900.
The 1911 Census has 8 Sheridans living Logie Pert including 2 Edward Sheridans.

Do you know your grandmother's parents , if they were married in Scotland the record will be available online at http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ (paysite) , it should include parents names of the bride and groom.

Can anyone give me information and/or point me in the direction of where the Logie records are held.

The Logie Pert records, like all other Scottish statutory records, are held in the National Records of Scotland in Edinburgh. Some of the records are available online at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk, but births less than 100 years ago cannot be viewed online.

Assuming that you don't know the names of your great-grandparents, you would have to get hold of a copy of your grandmother's birth certificate. You can either order it online, or you can get someone who is going to the Scotland's People Centre in Edinburgh to transcribe it for you (unless you can get to Edinburgh yourself). Then you can use the information on that certificate to find your great-grandparents' marriage certificate and earlier records.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Thank you for the replies. My head is now swimming with where to start!
Yes, my gran had a younger brother, she herself passed away earlier this year and leaves a younger sister as the only living sibling.

From that 2007 sibling we have now established that the mother's maiden name was McCurrach.

Scotlandspeople has an Edward Sheridan / Ann Sim McCurrach marriage 1923 Montrose Angus.

I think they are both buried in Lower Logie Cemetery(Deceased Online).
Edward Sheridan 1960(born c1898) , Ann Sim Sheridan 1972(born c1900).
