Hello and welcome to Rootschat.

A good starting point is to find the registration of the births, marriages and deaths. You can use www.freebmd.org.uk to look for them. If you donīt have the relevant certificates then you can order these from www.gro.gov.uk using the details from the entries on freebmd.

Another free site that you might find useful is www.familysearch.org

Hello, and welcome to RootsChat!

If you haven't already done so, a good way to make surname connections with other members is to enter your surname interests in the Surname Interests Table (SIT), and to check there whether others are researching these names.

This can be found at http://surname.rootschat.com/ , there is a link to it under "Your Tools" at the bottom of each Rootschat page.

The more people who enter their surnames, the more chance there will be of making a connection!

In the meantime, I will move this thread to the Nottinghamshire board, as that is where your family seems to be based.

John Brierley married Mary Ann Massey Q3 1880 Notts RD Volume 7B Page 383
although obviously a transcription error somewhere as she is listed as Mary L Brierley in 1901
