So I was on the right track! I also got to the 1841 family

How it works is Elizabeth Moulding has James and Edward, then marries James Wade.  By 1851 she appears to be with a Benjamin Brown, and the boys are called Brown but in 1861 they are using the Wade surname again! She has more children, including a Clara.

Note Elizabeth Wade, witness to James Moulding’s marriage.

Elizabeth's sister Sarah marries Charles Cart

so why is Benjamin's surname given as Wade in 1861?

Don't forget ages are rounded down in 1841. Elizabeth's age fits in later years
