Hi Pennie, Thankyou for responding to my query - The CD Rom you mention sounds a good idea - I would love to find Richard Weller b 1746 parents - I have searched but maybe the parish records are the only answer.

Regards

Hi Destiny ...

I had a look for Richard's baptism on the Handborough PRs, but couldn't find anything (searched 1737-1755 inc.) - plenty of other WELLERs listed for most of the years, but no Richard!

Where did you get the birth year of 1746?

Hi Pennie

I found Richard Weller's birthdate on Ancestry.com he was married to Mary Horn b 1754 married 6 August 1771 marriage details found in the Oxfordshire Parish Records, they had one son John Weller B 1771 Handborough.

Your help is appreciated.

Hi Destiny ...

I couldn't find the reference to Richard's birth on Ancestry, but did find him listed on the IGI.  However, this was submitted information and therefore must be taken with an exceedingly large pinch of salt!

I checked again (and widened my search of the Handborough PRs), but there's definitely no record of him from 1721 to 1762 inc.

There are three different WELLER couples having children baptised at Handborough in the 1740s - perhaps they just forgot to get him "done"!

Hi Pennie

So if, as you say, Richard Weller wasn't "done" that doesn't necessarily mean he didn't exist ??  Thinking on, I did find him on a website called www.angelfire.com-md-liddell, together with a whole lot of Wellers, all of whom I have found on other sites.  I did find a marriage between Richard and Mary Horn on the 6/8/1771 in the Oxfordshire Parish Records that someone sent me.

Thankyou for your perseverance.

Hi Pam ...

There are over a hundred PR entries for the WOODWARD surname in Handborough - from 1689 (the earliest baptism) to 1860 (when the register transcript ends)!

Can you be a little more specific date-wise???

Pennie

PS  If you Google WOODWARD+Handborough you will find several websites covering this family.

Hi Pam

An Elizabeth Woodward born 1801 married one of my ancestors, George Merry.  She came from Handborough and had twin elder brothers, William and John born 1791.  Any help?
