William Fidler

Hi all
I'm trying find the birth of the above person. Also his marriage.
In the 1861/71 census William Fidler  was born in Witney Oxfordshire.Estimated birth year: abt 1815
IGI gives his death: 29 May 1872,and his marriage to Susannah Hawkins: 1839 WHITNEY, WHITNEY, Oxfordshire, England.

I have all the census info for him but not the actual dates, as I intend to get the relevant certs.
If any one can find his actual birth date.  I would be very grateful

The Oxfordshire FHS have transcribed the Witney parish register and on their CD of the transcription for St Mary's Witney the following appear:

Baptisms
25 Sep 1814 William s of John & Mary (father's occ Fuller)

Marriages
21 Jun 1834 William Fidler & Susanna Hawkins (x)
wits. William Smith and Ann Godfrey (x)

That's brilliant, I was beginning to think that maybe they never bothered getting married.

Steve, any ideas on Williams birth date please, as I can't find proof of that either.

Birth dates were not recorded in this register - they do occur occasionally in a Parish Registers, but not at Witney
